David A. Williams is Assistant Professor of Worship and Sacred Music in Christian Ministry at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. In 2018 he completed a PhD in Church History, Sacred Music History, and Theological Studies at Andrews University. He received a Master of Sacred Music in 2010 from the University of Notre Dame in liturgical history, sacred music history, and organ performance. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and a Bachelor of Science in Organ Performance from Southern Adventist University in 2005. He studied improvisation with Sietze de Vries in the Netherlands. He serves as Assistant Pastor for Worship and Music for the South Bend First Seventh-day Adventist Church. He directs worship for the Seminary and conducts the Seminary Chorus.
This interactive workshop will explore the history and practical ways of engaging with the cultural and ethnic diversity of your congregation, specifically addressing musical resources and the implementation of music in the worship service.
In this vespers, I will share several personal testimonies of God’s providence, calling, and hope. It will include congregational singing & improvisation, as well as organ repertoire.
